Get All You Can

Scripture: Proverbs 6:6-11
6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
7  It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
8  yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Scripture Memory: Ephesians 2:8-10
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Journey: We had originally planned to spend four weeks in our sermon series on “God’s Wisdom for Your Money” but are going to extend that by one week. On our last Sunday (12/04) the subject will be “Living for the Long Haul in a Short Trip World.” Our subject today is “Get All You Can – Work Hard.”

Having a strong work ethic (working hard) may be a forgone conclusion for most of us but there is more to a biblical theology of work than just working hard. You have to also ask questions like, “How hard is too hard? How much rest do I need? Does my work define who I am? Does my job rule my life?” Sometimes our assumptions about, and practices of, work shape our lives more than we realize. Therefore, let’s grab our bibles, open them up and see what God’s word has to say about this critical aspect of our lives.

Your most important work is likely when you are on your knees,
